The Minister was brilliantly
portrayed by Giles Watling………. In a fast moving production, he
keeps up a frenetic pace as the action twists and turns with
David Callister as the PPS George Pigden, close behind. The
pair of them must have the stamina of Olympic athletes to keep
moving so much. The interplay between these two is priceless
with the wily Minister one step ahead of his aide as he
entangles him in a downward spiral of intrigue. The top speed
delivery of their lines is mind boggling. |

The best
performance of the evening came from David Callister, this
actor certainly knows how to deal with comedy. |

The show’s real
star is David Callister as George, who acts as a splendidly
innocent foil to Watling’s blustering schemer. |

David Callister
is in fine form as George Pigden, the Parliamentary Private
Secretary who has the thankless task of delivering Willey from
all evil. |

This is farce so
enter an apparently dead body, a bumbling camp personal
assistant ( a scene stealing performance by David Callister )
……………. All help to spin a deliberately confusing but
perfectly honed romp of the first order. |

……………..On this
firm axis spins a cast rich in comic talent and timing, with a
wealth of it from David Callister, as the put-up-on
Parliamentary Private Secretary. |

This production
gives all the energy required for good farce…… As the wayward
politician, Giles Watling smoothly manages to lie his way out
of all the incriminating evidence, with ever increasing tall
stories, much to the annoyance of his PPS George Pigden played
by David Callister and for me Callister’s was the performance
of the night. With his wide range of voices, malleable face
and excellent comic timing, he held the stage every time he
came on. |

The cast have a razor sharp
sense of timing……Giles Watling is the erring politician who
manages to put a spin on all the incriminating clues but it’s
David Callister as his much put upon private secretary who
gives the performance of the evening: high speed, quick
thinking and with a huge range of voices and faces. |
